Obituary of Joyce Hancock

Joyce Hancock of Atlantic Highland, NJ passed away peacefully July 11, 2022 at the home of her daughter in Fair Haven, NJ. Joyce was witty, kind, cheerful and loving to the end. She was born in Lake Charles, LA to Jane and Rudolph Bravand.
Her youth was spent in Miami, FL where she graduated from Miami Edison High School. Her family moved to NJ where she met her husband, William John Hancock. They were married in November of 1946 upon his return from Marine service.
She was actively employed until the age of 82 as a bookkeeper at various retail stores, the last being Rumson China and Glass. The “girls” at that establishment became great lifelong friends. Upon her retirement she and her husband travelled, enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, and Williamsburg, and visiting their son Randy in Washington. Joyce enjoyed knitting and cooking but spending time with her family was what she lived for.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Kent (Dave), Wayne (MaryLou), and Christopher (Lynn); and, her grandchildren David (Ashleigh), Darren Kent (Cailyn), Randi, Lauren (Shawn), Sunny and Shane Hancock, Rebecca Villane (Anthony), Alexandra Lindsay (Jesse), Kevin Hancock and Ryan Hancock (Amanda), her niece Jana Pape (Stanley); and, 17 great grandchildren. She is pre- deceased by her husband, William, a son, Randolph and his wife Cynthia, her sisters Jane Matus and Beverly (Sunny) Hancock and a nephew James Smock (Kathleen).
Private arrangements are being handled by Posten-McGinley Funeral Home, 59 East Lincoln Ave, Atlantic Highlands, NJ, 07716 The family has planned a simple graveside service for Joyce’s immediate family members only.
