Obituary of Mildred Mika
MILDRED MIKA • Atlantic Highlands
Mildred Foley Mika, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on May 27, surrounded by her family. Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1925. Her family moved to Atlantic Highlands in 1941 and she graduated AHHS in 1942. During World War II she worked as a draftsman for the U.S. Army Signal Corps, Fort Monmouth. When her children were young, she served as a Girl Scout Leader and later worked for Monmouth County as a Crossing Guard at Atlantic Highlands Elementary, then as a Clerk at the Atlantic Highlands Borough Hall before retiring in 1992. In addition to being a dedicated mother and wife, she was actively involved in the Saint Agnes PTA, Atlantic Highlands Seniors, a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and an avid reader.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Nicholas; her parents, Luella and Pierson Foley; siblings Delores Costa, Stanley Foley, and Harold Foley; her children, Thomas and Elaine; her sons-in-law, Larry J. Garrard and Patrick A. Neal. She is survived by her children, Paul (wife Linda, Jackson, NJ); Catherine Smock (Lake Como, NJ); Patricia Garrard (Lake Wales, FL); Nancie Neal Mika (Palmetto, FL); Daniel (Rawlins, WY) and Margaret (husband Jose, Lake Wales, FL); her grandchildren, Brian Burdikoff, wife Annie, Christina Gebhardt, husband Ronald, Kenneth Mika, wife Suzanne, Stephen Mika, wife Anastasia, Jarrett Price, Alyssa Mika Cignarella, husband Michael, Hannah Mika, and Madeline Mika; and her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Patrick, and Aiden Gebhardt, Matthew, Timothy, and Michael Mika, and Danielle, Joshua, and Emma Mika; and her siblings, Barbara Layton, Helen Brusko, and Lois Figliola.
Friends and family are invited to call at McGinley-Posten's Funeral Parlor, 59 E. Lincoln Avenue, Atlantic Highlands, NJ on Friday, June 4, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 5, at 10:00 am, with interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ.
