Ruth Walling,90, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7. Born on July 20, 1930 in Jersey City, she spent most of her life in Atlantic Highlands and DeLand, Fla. before moving to Shadow Lake Village in Middletown. After graduating high school in 1947, Ruth worked for Prudential. In 1966, she began working in Atlantic Highlands as the town's Boro Clerk. She worked there for over 20 years before retiring in 1988 as the Boro Administrator. Ruth loved to travel, meet new friends, and go bowling with her husband Alfred and her friends at Shadow Lake. She especially loved her trips to Atlantic City beating the slots. Ruth certainly touched the hearts of everyone she met and will be dearly missed. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Helen and Joe Lehning, her brother Charles Heuser and his wife Rose, her sister Mae Dixon, her son John Bilotti, and grandson Donald S Merker. She left behind her loving husband of 27 years Alfred Walling, her sons Donald H Merker and wife Kelly, Charles Merker and girlfriend Jayne Missry, Jeffrey Merker and wife Cathy, Kurt Walling, her daughter Jeanie Norton and husband C.I., her grandson Daniel and wife Kaylie, her granddaughters Corrine and Samantha, along with several nieces, nephews, and great grand children. Due to the pandemic, funeral arrangements are private. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Postens McGinley Funeral Home at 59 E.
