So, I am a picker, No not a nose picker but a customer order picker for Amazon. I do this thing with my kids when I pick something interesting or it sparks a memory, I take a picture and send it in a group text titled "Pick of The Day".
A few weeks ago I picked this small magnet that had a picture of Jesus looking around the corner saying "I Saw That". Instantly it brought back the memory of when I was between 9 and 11 years old. I went downtown with a few kids from my class, I wanted to be friends with. You know the cool crowd. They dared me to go into the" 5 and 10 Store" on First Ave and steal something. To this day I do not remember what it was.
Well I did. I came out of the store and they all were gone. I went home and my mom asked "where did you get that from?" She walked back with me to the store to return it and apologize. She waited outside watching me through the window. When I returned it, they told me to never come into the store again. I was humiliated. When I came out of the store, mom said nothing for a block of our walk. Then she said, remember "God is Always Watching". Then I cried the rest of the way home. I have not stolen anything since.
She would say life will not be easy but always pray and know God will be with you. Her faith was so strong that she stepped onto a boat, with no friends or family, to go to America still not having any family or friends there, just a host family to help her learn English and get a job. I am amazed by her Strength.
We all know mom was all about Faith, family and making memories. A few weeks ago she told me "I know my mind is messed up and I have no memories, BUT I KNOW GOD IS WITH ME. That I will be ok and my Family will be fine. WOW, even then GOD is showing us it is his way not our own. The one thing she praised almost as much as God was taken from her at the end. BUT GOD WAS WITH HER.
Thank you mom for helping me to be a believer in GOD.
