Obituary of Joseph L. Mulligan III
Joseph L. Mulligan III, of Manahawkin originally from Middletown, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on March 16 at the age of 66. Joseph was born in Red Bank and grew up in the Belford section of Middletown where he spent most of his life before moving to Manahawkin, NJ.
Joseph was a freight truck driver for Metroplex (Local 194) for many years, and finished the last 20 years of his career working for Yellow Freight (Local 641) before he retired. Upon retiring, he cared for his father and for the past six years he has dedicated his life to taking care of his mother and making sure she was given the best care.
Joseph was predeceased by his father, Joseph Mulligan, Jr. Joseph leaves behind his beloved Mother Harriet (Leonard) Mulligan, his loving son Joseph Mulligan IV and daughter-in-law Jenna, his sister and brother-in-law Lynn and John Carroll, his nephew Johnny and niece Lauren, as well as aunts, cousins, and many friends.
Joseph loved spending precious time with his family and friends. He felt fortunate to have such a loving son and daughter-in-law. He beamed with pride when he spoke about his son Joseph. Some of his favorite places to spend time with his Dad, Joseph Jr., and son Joseph IV were Keyport Fishery, Federici’s, Luigi’s Pizza Hazlet, and DeMarco’s, among many other places down in Manahawkin.
Joseph had a love for the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees, and would constantly keep up to date on all the sports and news happenings.
Joseph had the gift of gab and would delight in the conversations that he had with so many. Whether it was on the phone with his son every day, at work meeting new people on deliveries, in the neighborhood or at Wawa while getting coffee and scratch-offs, he enjoyed every second! Joseph truly did not know the positive impact he had on so many and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit for a memorial gathering Tuesday, March 26 from 6-8pm with a memorial service taking place at 7:45pm at Posten-McGinley Funeral Home, 59 East Lincoln Ave, Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716.
